CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – The Cabrini College women's soccer team notched its first win of 2011 with a
2-0 shutout win at DeSales University on Sunday. The win improves the Cavaliers to 1-0-1 on the season.
In their first game action in 10 days, Cabrini seemed to allow DeSales to control the run of play early. Junior goalie Maddy Edwards was forced to make three saves in the first 16 minutes of the game.
After four substitutions, the Cavaliers finally opened the scoring on their third shot of the game.
Freshman Gabby Meck, one of the substitutes, connected on a centering pass from sophomore Lauren Pallister to score her first collegiate goal and the Cavaliers' first of the season.
Just five minutes later, another substitute, freshman Devon Miller, gave Cabrini its second goal, the result of a loose ball scrum in the DeSales goalie box.
Edwards recorded six saves for Cabrini to extend her scoreless streak to 200 minutes.
The Cavaliers will travel to Eastern University on Tuesday. The match is set to begin at 4:00 p.m.
