Volleyball Sweeps Day One at Moravian College Tournament

Sophomore Alaina Clark helped the Cabrini volleyball to two wins at the Moravian College Tournament on Friday.

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Cabrini volleyball team earned its first win of the 2011 season and completed a two-match sweep on day one at the Moravian College Tournament on Friday. The Cavaliers dropped Wilkes University, 3-0, before blanking Wesley College, 3-0.

Cabrini captured its first win of the regular season against the Colonels, winning 25-18, 25-15 and 25-7. Sophomore libero Sophia Sokolovich notched 12 digs and sophomore setter Alaina Clark tallied 22 assists.

Junior Danielle Carrozza posted seven kills, while sophomore middle hitter Michele Fitz recorded six kills against Wilkes.

Fitz led the Blue & White attack against Wesley, burying a team-best 11 kills. Clark aided the Cabrini offense with 24 assists.

Sokolovich added 17 digs.

The two victories pulls fifth-year head coach Eric Schaefer to within 10 victories of the 100th of his career. Schaefer owns a 90-39 career mark. He guided the Cavaliers to the conference title and an appearance in the NCAA Tournament in each of the last two seasons.

Cabrini (2-2) resumes play at the Moravian College Tournament on Saturday.
