ROSEMONT, Pa. – After back-to-back losses, the Cabrini College women's basketball team hoped to get off to a good start in tonight's game at Rosemont College. Unfortunately, the Cavaliers' poor start ultimately led to a 65-57 loss, dropping the Blue and White to 4-2 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference and 6-7 overall.
The Cavaliers missed their first 10 field goal attempts, falling behind in the game's opening minutes. Less than eight minutes into the game, Cabrini found itself down 16-4. A timeout refocused the Cavaliers, sending them on a 10-0 run to get back in to the game.
Rosemont responded with a 9-2 run of its own to push its lead to 24-16. A late spurt cut Cabrini's deficit to 30-27 at the halftime break.
Both clubs shot in the low 30's from the floor in the first half but Rosemont connected on 13-14 from the free throw line and maintained a 24-17 rebounding advantage to help them establish their three-point halftime advantage.
The Cavaliers started the second half cold from the floor, allowing the Ravens to outscore the Blue and White 13-3 in the first six minutes, pushing the lead to 43-33.
Cabrini continued to try to chip away at the lead but each time it looked as though the Cavaliers were poised to make a run, Rosemont responded with a bucket.

Megan Decker cut the deficit to 59-57 with just under two minutes to play, but Cabrini wouldn't find the hoop again. Rosemont iced the game with four free throws in the game's final minute.

Brittany Sandone led the Cavaliers with 17 points. Freshman
Amber Keys added eight points off the bench. Keys and sophomore
MaryKate McCann grabbed a team-high five rebounds each.
Both teams shot similar percentages from the floor but the Ravens outscored Cabrini 27-12 from the free throw line and grabbed 10 more rebounds than Cabrini.
Elizabeth Coyne paced Rosemont with 16 points in the win.
Cabrini will return to Nerney Field House on Saturday when they host the Marywood University Pacers. Tip-off is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
