HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. –
After taking a sizable first half lead, the Cabrini College women's basketball team couldn't hold on, ultimately falling 66-52 at Centenary College.   The loss drops the Cavaliers to 7-12 overall and 5-6 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference.

The Cavaliers got off to a hot start using solid defense leading to offensive production to take an early lead.  With a 9-7 advantage five minutes into the game, the Blue and White embarked on a 12-0 run.  Sophomore MaryKate McCann's three-pointer at the 13:00 minute mark gave Cabrini a 21-7 lead.

Unfortunately, the Cavaliers would score just seven points in the final 13 minutes of the half.  After watching their lead slip to nine points, sophomore Brittany Sandone's trey extended the advantage back to 12 points.

Over the next nine minutes, the Cavaliers went scoreless, allowing the Cyclones to embark on a 17-0 run and a 29-24 lead with less than two minutes to play in the half.  By the break, the Blue and White trailed 31-28.

Coming out of the half, Cabrini quickly tied the score on a Leithie Faison three-pointer.  The Cyclones responded with a 6-0 spurt to regain the game's momentum.  The Cavaliers cut the lead back to four with just under 15 minutes to play.

Over the next six minutes, Centenary again took control of the game with a 13-3 run. With less than nine minutes to play, Cabrini found itself facing a 58-44 deficit.

Sandone led the Cavaliers attack with 14 points, knocking down half of her eight three-point attempts.   Faison finished with 10 points. McCann added eight points to her game-high seven assists.  Freshman Megan Decker led Cabrini with seven rebounds and three steals.

Centenary's Jenn Vasta led the Cyclones (13-6, 7-4 CSAC) with 18 points.

The Cavaliers will return to the court on Monday when they face Eastern University in the annual “Battle for Eagle Road.”  This year's match-up is scheduled for 6:00p.m. at Eastern's Gymnasium.
