RADNOR, Pa. – One might think that after 17 days off, the Cabrini College women's basketball team would be pretty rusty. The Cavaliers must have shaken that rust off during warm-ups as they returned from the holiday break with an impressive 67-38 win over the visiting Susquehanna University Crusaders tonight at the Nerney Field House.
Sophomore
Brittany Sandone led the Cavaliers on both sides of the court. Sandone finished the night with 22 points on 6-9 shooting from the field and 7-10 from the free throw line, eight rebounds and five assists.
Cabrini jumped on the Crusaders early in the game, scoring the first six points of the game. The Blue and White continued to break down the Susquehanna defense, extending its lead to 18 points with 3:21 left before halftime.
The Cavaliers shot 37.9% from the floor before the halftime break, while holding the Crusaders to just 7-29 from the floor. Cabrini was dominant on the glass, holding a 32-17 rebounding advantage in the game's first 20 minutes.
The Blue and White continued its dominance after the break, never allowing the Crusaders to get within 13 points.
The Cavaliers held Susquehanna to just 15.2% shooting in the second half, including just 2-11 from behind the three-point arc. Meanwhile, Cabrini connected on 46.2% of its field goal attempts.
Cabrini displayed offensive and defensive balance in tonight's win. Thirteen players saw action tonight, each recording at least two points or a rebound.
