CHESTER, Pa. – The Cabrini College women's basketball team dropped to 6-5 on the season with tonight's 74-46 loss at Widener University. Sophomore
Brittany Sandone led the Cavaliers with 13 points and three steals.
Sandone has averaged 15.3 points per game over Cabrini's last three contests.

The Cavaliers fell behind early, as the Pride tallied the game's first eight points. Widener used a 9-2 run midway through the first half to gain momentum. A 17-7 spurt late in the first half gave the Pride a 21-point advantage, its largest lead of the first half. Sandone closed the first half with Cabrini's only three-pointer before the break.
At the break, Cabrini trailed 41-23. The Blue and White shot just 26.1% from the floor before halftime. Widener converted 17 Cabrini turnovers into 16 first half points.
The second half did not go much better for the Cavaliers. Widener held the Cavaliers to just five points in the first eight minutes of the second half to extend the lead to 27 points.
The Blue and White rallied for eight consecutive points, including a Sandone three-pointer and a traditional three-point play by Faison, to cut deficit to 60-38 with 7:21 to play. The Pride responded with a 10-2 spurt of its own, pushing their lead to a game-high 30 points with just under five minutes to play.
Cabrini's 28.3% field goal shooting was its lowest percentage of the season. The Cavaliers connected on just 15 field goals and recorded 26 turnovers in the loss.
Widener center Vanessa Hejnas led three Widener players in double-figure scoring with 18 points, including 12 before the break. Lil Carney and Francesca Lee added 14 and 13 points, respectively.
The Cavaliers will face another tough test on Saturday as they travel to Immaculata University for a CSAC tilt. Cabrini and the Mighty Macs are currently tied atop the CSAC South Division at 4-0.
