IMMCAULATA, Pa. – In a battle of the two undefeated teams atop the CSAC South standings, the Cabrini College women's basketball team fell short, losing its first conference game of the year 47-41 at Immaculata University's Alumnae Hall. The loss drops the Cavaliers to 6-6 on the year and 4-1 in conference play.
Sophomore
Annie Rivituso led the Blue and White with 11 points, while sophomore guard
Brittany Sandone added nine points, all in the second half. Guards
MaryKate McCann and
Leithie Faison chipped in with eight points each.
Sophomore forward
Colleen Stewart grabbed a team-high eight rebounds. McCann and Rivituso cleaned the glass for seven boards each.
Both teams struggled to score in the game's early minutes but the Mighty Macs found their stroke in the middle of the half as they went on a 14-1 run to take a 19-6 lead with 8:28 remaining in the first half.

Megan Decker to cut the deficit to five points, three minutes before the break
Trailing 27-20 at the break, the Blue and White rallied for the first five points of the half on a Sandone three-pointer and a Rivituso lay-up. When Faison drilled a three-pointer at the 13:25 mark, Cabrini completed its comeback from the 13-point deficit, tying the score at 32.
The Cavaliers continued to keep the game within five points through the final 13-plus minutes, but could not hit the big shot.
The Blue and White cut the Immaculata lead to two points several times but the Mighty Macs always responded with a bucket.
Bridget Welz led the Mighty Macs with 12 points, including 7-8 from the free throw line.
The Cavaliers will play its third consecutive road game on Wednesday when they travel to Rosemont College to face the Ravens. Tip is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
