Volleyball Grounds the Griffins

GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa. – The Cabrini College volleyball team rebounded from its first Colonial States Athletics Conference loss in nearly two years to weep Gwynedd-Mercy College tonight 3-0.  The victory improves the Cavaliers to 14-5 overall and 7-1 in the CSAC.

The Cavaliers put on a dominant performance in the 25-11, 25-11, 25-15 straight set victory.  Eight players split Cabrini's 28 total kills, led by senior Danielle Carrozza's nine kills.   Freshman Jen Grenauer added six.  Freshman Cassidy Keonig directed Cabrini's offense to the tune of 19 assists.

The Cavaliers were also scoring directly from the service line with 10 service aces.  Junior Alaina Clark recorded three, while Grenauer and junior Michele Fitz added a pair. 

Defensively, seven players recorded at least three of the Blue and White's 33 digs in the match.  Junior Sophia Sokolovich posted a match-high six on the night.

Kelsey Craig led the Griffins (2-18, 1-6 CSAC) with six kills, while Ariana Richards added five.

The Cavaliers will return to the court on Tuesday night as they welcome the Keystone College Giants to Nerney Field House.  First serve is scheduled fro 7:00 p.m.
