Women's Soccer Upends the Highlanders

Box Score

LANGHORNE, Pa. – The Cabrini College women's soccer team scored four second half goals to defeat Cairn University this afternoon.  The 4-0 victory improves the Cavaliers to 5-1-3 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference, with just two league matches to play, and 6-6-3 overall.

The Cavaliers dominated the stat sheet in the game's opening 45 minutes, outshooting the Highlanders 18-1.   The Blue and White, however, could not find the net
in no small part due to Cairn's goaltender Morgan Swan who posted 18 saves on the day.

Cabrini finally broke through in the 55th minute when senior Dana Drake found sophomore Gabby Meck.  Meck's second goal of the season seemed to take the cover off the goal and the Cavaliers took advantage.

Junior Bree Thompson doubled Cabrini's lead in the 66th minute with her second goal of the season.  Freshman Kerri Hinkelmon was credited with the assist on Thompson's goal for the rookie's first collegiate point.

Six minutes later, junior Lauren Pallister converted a penalty shot for her first goal of the campaign and third of her career.  Senior Alex Tralie closed the scoring in the 83rd minute when she connected with freshman Dana Peterson.  The tally was the 15th of the senior's career and first of the season.

Goaltenders Maddy Edwards and Sarah Means combined for three saves to record the shutout.

The Cavaliers recorded season-high 34 shots on the day, including 25 shots on goal.  Sophomore Melissa Scanzano led the charge with seven shots, while the trio of Drake, Peterson and Paulister added four shots each.

The Cavaliers have now held their opponents scoreless for the last 272 minutes and allowed just three goals in their last 770 minutes of action.  During that stretch, the Blue and White have outscored the opposition 12-3.

The Blue and White will return to the pitch on Tuesday when they welcome Centenary College to Edith Robb Dixon Field.  The action is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m.
