RADNOR, Pa. –
The Cabrini College women's soccer team secured the #2 seed in next week's Colonial States Athletic Conference tournament with today's 4-1 victory over Cedar Crest College.  The win closes the Cavaliers' regular season record at 8-6-3 and 7-1-3 in the CSAC.

Today was also a special day as it marked Senior Day for Cabrini's six seniors, Molly Chenot, Dana Drake, Maddy Edwards, Morgan Hudson, Kaitlyn Smith, and Alex Tralie.  The match was especially memorable for Chenot, whose playing career ended before she came to Cabrini.  Today marked her first career start.

The match began with Chenot and Smith in the center circle.  After the tap, Chenot dribbled the ball, unimpeded toward the Cedar Crest, and fired her first career shot on goal into the net, giving the Cavaliers a 1-0 lead.  After a Chenot substitution, Cedar Crest senior Jen Rittenhouse drove toward Cabrini's net and scored her first career goal in her 69th and final game.

"This incredible moment for our senior Molly Chenot would not have been possible without the extraordinary sportsmanship by Coach Pietrobon and the Cedar Crest Falcons,” said Cabrini head coach Ken Prothero.  “It was such a surreal moment just seeing her out there in a uniform.  There are some moments that are beyond sports and this was one of them for all of us there today."

After a pair of symbolic goals in the first 25 seconds of play, the game began in earnest.  The score remained 1-1 until the 42nd minute when freshman Kristina Startare found fellow freshman Dana Peterson in the middle of the penalty area.  Peterson's third goal of the season gave the Cavaliers a 2-1 lead they carried into halftime.

Though they only led 2-1, the Cavaliers controlled the flow of the game in the first half, outshooting the Falcons 25-2.  Cedar Crest's senior goaltender Danielle Mendez was up to the task with nine first half saves.

The Cavaliers added to their lead in the 52nd minute when sophomore Gabby Meck found the net for her third tally of the season.  The goal gave Startare a pair of assists on the day.

Six minutes later, freshman Nicole Hallinan scored her first career goal on a shot into the upper right corner of the net.  Meck was credited with her third assist of the season.

The Cavaliers fired 35 shot on the afternoon, with 15 on goal.  Sophomore Melissa Scanzano led the club with six shots, while the trio of Tralie, Peterson and junior Bethany Feinberg ripped four shots each.

Today's victory secured a first round bye in next week's CSAC tournament.  The Cavaliers will host a semifinal match on Wednesday, October 31 at a time to be determined.  Cabrini will learn its semifinal opponent on Monday night after the first round matches have been played.
