BETHANY, W.V. – The Cabrini College volleyball season came to an end today, as the Cavaliers fell to the top seeded Bethany College Bison 3-0 in the semifinal round of the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) South Region Tournament. The loss closes the season at 20-10.
The Blue and White offense struggled to get on track as it recorded a season low 22 kills in the 25-15, 25-11, 26-24 loss.
Senior
Danielle Carrozza led the Cavaliers with nine kills, while freshman
Jen Grenauer added five and junior
Michele Fitz four. Freshman
Cassidy Koenig served up 21 assists. Junior
Sophia Sokolovich posted a match high 19 digs and Carrozza posted 10.
Bethany's Taylor Cassidy and Lauren Goodwill combined for 25 kills in the win.
In the other ECAC South semifinal, Moravian topped Swarthmore 3-1. Later in the day, Bethany captured its third consecutive ECAC South title as it swept second seeded Moravian 3-0.
Today's loss marks the end of senior
Meg Ryan's career. The senior is among the winningest players in program history, helping the Cavaliers to 89 victories, including a 42-2 mark in the CSAC. Ryan appeared in four postseason tournaments and was part of three CSAC champions.
Ryan played in all 125 matches during her career, recording 805 kills with a 0.233 hitting percentage.
