MANASQUAN, N.J. – After a rash of suicides devastated her community, freshman women's soccer student-athlete
Emily Dayton and her parents decided to help by reminding young people how special they are. The Daytons created a non-profit organization called You Can NOT Be Replaced.
You Can NOT Be Replaced's mission is to encourage young people to value themselves and their impact on the people around them. They do this through encouraging simple acts of kindness and passing “I Can NOT Be Replaced” bands. These simple acts may only take a second, but can have a profound impact.
“Our goal is to help individuals confidence in the unique value of one's own life and those surrounding us,” said Dayton. “Our hope is that finding an individual's good will lead to forming stronger families and a better community.”
Dayton has spent her summer expanding the You Can NOT Be Replaced message through a series of events in her Manasquan, N.J. community. Some of those events include a father-son dinner, mother-daughter tea and fashion show and mini soccer tournament.
