RADNOR, Pa. – The Cabrini volleyball team improved to 23-4 on the season with a pair of wins at today's Matches for Margo tri-match at Nerney Field House. The Cavaliers earned 3-0 victories over Rutgers-Camden and the University of Scranton on the day.
Today's matches were dedicated to Team BamIt, an organization founded in memory of Margo Mallory Ambler a passionate, gentle 24 year old young woman who lost her 9 month battle with Cervical Cancer. Senior
Danielle Carrozza joined Cabrini's 1,000 kill club in the third set of the Cavaliers' 25-7, 25-11, 28-26 victory over Rutgers-Camden. The senior fired a match-high 16 kills with no errors and added eight kills.
Freshman
Kelly Guarino tallied 10 kills, while senior
Michele Fitz paired nine kills and three blocks three service aces. Senior
Sophia Sokolovich posted 15 digs, while sophomore
Cassidy Koenig added 35 assists.
The Blue and White struggled to find a rhythm in the second set against Scranton, trailing by as many as five points and as late as 17-14, before rallying to claim the 25-14, 25-22, 25-14 straight set victory.
Carrozza again led the offense with a match-high 15 kills and eight digs. Sokolovich tallied 25 digs, while Guarino paired 15 digs with five kills and three service aces. Koenig scored 28 assists, while Fitz totaled nine kills and three total blocks.
In the day's other match, Scranton earned a 25-22, 22-25, 25-18, 22-25, 15-9 victory over Rutgers-Camden. Scranton's Lilly Crilly totaled 12 kills and 19 digs, while Lizzy Zimmerman added 13 kills. Olivia Rowland led Rutgers-Camden with 17 kills, while Cari Applegate paired 12 kills with 11 digs.
Cabrini will close its CSAC slate on Wednesday as it visits both Keystone and Baptist Bible Colleges. The Cavaliers will meet Keystone at 5 p.m. and Baptist Bible at 7 p.m.
