LA PLUME, Pa. – The Cabrini volleyball earned its third undefeated conference schedule in five years tonight as it pulled off a rare road doubleheader. The Cavaliers scored a 3-0 victory at Keystone College before traveling down the road to Clarks Summit where they topped Baptist Bible College 3-0.
The victories extend Cabrini's win streak to nine matches and improve the Blue and White to 25-4 (11-0 CSAC). The club's 25 victories are also the most for a single season in program history.
The Cavaliers wasted little time taking control of the match at Keystone, taking the first set 25-6 before taking the second and third 25-14 and 25-22 respectively. Senior
Danielle Carrozza led the way with 15 kills and seven digs. Sophomore
Cassidy Koenig tallied 30 assists. Senior
Michele Fitz paired five kills and five blocks, while fellow senior
Kristy Riley posted a team-high nine digs.
Cabrini closed its evening with a 25-14, 25-17, 25-13 win over the Defenders. Carrozza and Fitz led the Blue and White with 11 kills each, while Carrozza added nine digs and three blocks. Koenig added 33 assists and12 digs, while senior
Sophia Sokolovich tallied a match-high 16 digs.
The Blue and White will close the regular season on Saturday as it travels to Elizabethtown College for a tri-match. Cabrini will face the host Blue Jays at 12 p.m. and Shenandoah University at 2:00 p.m.
By virtue of their regular season performance, the Cavaliers have earned the top seed in next week's CSAC tournament and a first round bye. The Blue and White will host a semifinal round match on Thursday. Stay tuned to CabriniAthletics.com for more CSAC tournament information.
