ROSEMONT, Pa. – The Cabrini women's soccer team secure the number two seed and a first round bye in next week's Colonial States Athletic Conference tournament with today's 2-0 victory at Rosemont College.  The victory improves the Cavaliers to 10-3-5 overall and 8-1-2 in the CSAC.

Despite creating solid scoring chances, neither the Ravens nor Cavaliers could find the right scoring combination in the opening 45 minutes of action.  The Blue and White tallied six shots to Rosemont's two and earned four corner kicks to one before the break.

Nearly 30 minutes had elapsed in the second half when sophomore Kaitlyn Cooper opened the scoring.  Fellow sophomore Kerri Hinkelmon's cross found Cooper in the 75th minute.  Cooper collected the ball and fired it into the net for her sixth goal of the season.  

Just five minutes later, Cooper was on the set-up side of another Cabrini scoring effort.  Cooper's cross from the left side found senior Laureen Pallister streaking through the penalty area.  The senior's shot flew past the goaltender for her third goal of the season.

The Cavaliers turned up their pressure after the break, leading to a 12-5 advantage in shots, including 7-2 in shots on goal, and 6-1 in second half corner kicks.  

Junior Melissa Scanzano and sophomore Dana Peterson led the Blue and White with four shots each, while Pallister, senior Bree Thompson and sophomore Julianna Ardire tallied two each.

Freshman goaltender Marissa Jenkins extended her scoreless streak to 414 minutes.  The rookie tallied two saves to secure her eighth shutout of the season.

The Cavaliers will return to action on Wednesday as it hosts a conference semifinal match at Edith Robb Dixon Field.  The club will face the winner of one of Monday's first round matches.  Stay tuned to CabriniAthletics.com for more information as it becomes available.
