SCRANTON, Pa. – The Cabrini women's soccer team held on for a 1-1 tie at Colonial States Athletic Conference favorite Marywood University today. The Blue and White now stand at 4-3-4 overall and 2-1-2 in league play.
Sophomore
Dana Peterson put the Cavaliers on the board in the 17th minute with her fifth goal of the season and third in the last three games. Cabrini held the slim advantage through the halftime, despite outshooting Marywood 7-3.
The Pacers evened the score in the 56th minute when Elizabeth Carlson converted a breakaway opportunity. The clubs combined for 16 second half shots, but neither could find the net in the final 34 minutes of regulation.
Both teams created solid scoring chances during the extra 10 minute periods but both defenses held firm, sending the game into the books as a 1-1 draw.
Junior
Melissa Scanzano led the way with five total shots, including four or goal, while freshman
Allie Vallen fired four shots. Freshman netminder
Marissa Jenkins recorded four saves on the day.
Marywood's Victoria Pezdirtz posted nine saves for the Pacers (3-5-3, 3-0-2 CSAC).
Cabrini will travel to Baltimore on Tuesday as they visit Notre Dame (Md.). Game time is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
