RADNOR, Pa. - The Cabrini volleyball team has its nine match losing streak stopped today as it split a pair of matches at Nerney Field House. The Blue and White topped Marywood University 3-0 before its comeback attempt fell short in a 3-1 loss to Richard Stockton College.
The Cavaliers controlled the action against Marywood in the day's opening match. Cabrini improved to 6-0 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference with the 25-13, 25-12, 25-16 over the Pacers.
Senior
Danielle Carrozza led the way with her eighth double double with 15 kills and 14 digs. Fellow senior
Michele Fitz paired 12 kills and three service aces. Senior
Sophia Sokolovich added a season-high 23 digs, while sophomore
Cassidy Koenig had 35 assists.
The Cavaliers returned to the court following Stockton's 3-0 win over Marywood (11-6, 2-1 CSAC).
After dropping the first two sets 25-19 and 25-20, Cabrini mounted a rally to earn a 25-18 win third frame. The fourth set was a tightly contested affair that featured 13 ties and no lead greater than three points. Stockton converted the match's final three point to close the day with a 28-26 fourth set win.
Carrozza narrowly missed her second double-double of the day with a match-high 17 kills and nine digs to go with two blocks. Sophomore Jen Greanuer added 11 kills and Fitz nine. Sokolovich posted 19 digs, while fellow senior
Kristy Riley tallied three service aces. Koenig tallied 40 assist, while junior
Dana Wisniewski blocked two attacks.
Idi Uffen paired 10 kills and seven total blocks for the Ospreys (17-5).
The Blue and White will face another tough nonconference test on Tuesday at it visits Swarthmore College (11-6). First serve is slated for 7:00 p.m.
