Women's Soccer Silences the Gators 4-0

Box Score

BALTIMORE, Md. – The Cabrini women's soccer team extended its unbeaten streak to four matches with today's 4-0 road win at Notre Dame of Maryland University.  The victory improves the Blue and White to 5-3-4 overall and 3-1-2 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference.

Despite outshooting the Gators 12-3 in the opening frame, the Cavaliers could only muster one goal.  Sophomore Julianna Ardire found sophomore Kaitlyn Cooper in the 13th minute for the rookie's second tally of the season.

The Blue and White turned up the pressure after the break.  Just four minutes into the second half, junior Melissa Scanzano found senior Bree Thompson for a header, netting Thompson's first goal of the season.  Fellow senior MaryKate McCann scored her second goal of the year in the 65th minute after a pass from sophomore Dana Peterson.

Sophomore Devon Miller closed the scoring in the 72nd minute when she put away a pass from freshman Allie Vallen for her fourth tally of 2013.

Cabrini controlled the pace of play, evidenced by its 24-4 advantage in shots on the day, including 16-3 in shots on goal.  Thompson and Miller led the way with four shots each, while Vallen and sophomore Kaitlin Zisa recorded three each.

Freshman Marissa Jenkins made three saves to record her third career shutout.

The Cavaliers will return to Edith Robb Dixon Field on Saturday as they host Keystone College (8-2-1, 3-2-1 CSAC).  The action is scheduled to get underway at 12 p.m.  Saturday's game will also mark Cabrini's annual Think Pink game to help raise money for the fight against breast cancer.
