Volleyball Closes Regular Season with 27 Wins, 11 Straight

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – The Cabrini volleyball team closed its regular season on an 11 match win steak after scoring a pair of victories at the Elizabethtown College tri-match.  The Cavaliers' 3-0 win over the host Blue Jays and 3-1 victory over Shenandoah University improve the Blue and White record to 27-4 on the year.

Senior Danielle Carrozza earned her 11th double-double of the season in Cabrini's 25-11, 25-21, 26-24 win at Elizabethtown with 17 kills and 10 digs.  Freshman Kelly Guarino added 10 kills and eight digs, while senior Michele Fitz tallied seven kills and four blocks.

Sophomore setter Cassidy Koenig recorded her sixth 40-plus assist effort of the season with 40 helpers.  Senior Sophia Sokolovich earned match high honors with 13 digs in the opener.

The Blue and White won the opening set against Shenandoah 25-15 before surrendering the second 25-23.  Cabrini then rallied to control the final two sets of the regular season, taking the third and fourth 25-11 and 25-18 respectively, for the victory.

Carrozza narrowly missed her second double-double of the day, pairing a season-high 26 kills with nine digs.  Fitz added 12 kills and sophomore Jen Grenauer 11.  While Sokolovich posted a match high 23 digs, Guarino set a new career high with 22 digs and added five service aces.

Koenig continued her solid play, tallying 47 assists in the four set victory.

After recording its third 11-0 CSAC schedule in five years, the Cavaliers secured a first round bye in next week's CSAC tournament.  The club will host its semifinal round match at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday night.  Cabrini must wait until the conclusion of Tuesday's opening round matches to learn Thursday's match-up.
