Box Score

RADNOR, Pa. – The Cabrini volleyball team advanced to its sixth consecutive Colonial States Athletic Conference championship match with tonight's 3-0 win over Marywood at Nerney Field House.  The Cavaliers, now 28-4 overall, will host Neumann (22-13) on Saturday at 5 p.m. for the title and the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.

The Blue and White wasted little time in exerting its will on the court tonight.  With the opening set tied at 4-4, Cabrini went on an 8-2 spurt, building a 13-4 lead.  A 5-0 run later in the set sent Cabrini to a 25-10 opening set win.

In the second set, the Cavaliers scored 10 of the first 14 points and never looked back.  The set ended with Cabrini winning 25-16 as the Pacers never got within five points.

The third set was played much closer than the first two.  While Cabrini maintained a slim lead, they could not pull away as Marywood kept their deficit between 1-4 points most of the set.  With the Cavaliers up 12-11, the club scored seven consecutive points with senior Kristy Riley at the service line.  The Pacers could not rally as Cabrini took the set 25-14.

Senior Danielle Carrozza led the Blue and White with 15 kills.  Fellow senior Michele Fitz added 11 kills, while freshman Kelly Guarino paired nine kills and a match high 16 digs.  Sophomore Cassidy Koenig tallied 40 assists for her eighth match with at least 40 assists and third consecutive match.  Riley and senior Sophia Sokolovich posted 10 digs each.

Junior Ashley Zalewski led the Pacers (18-11) with nine kills, while senior Rachel Tollett scored 12 digs.

Third seeded Neumann advanced to Saturday's championship match with a 3-0 at number two seed Cairn (23-6).  Junior Kelsey D'Imperio and senior Katelin Kuklutz led the Knights with 11 kills each, while sophomore Julia Malseed totaled 21 digs.

The Cavaliers earned a 3-0 road win in the teams' regular season meeting.  Carrozza led the way with her ninth double-double of the season, pairing a match high 15 kills and 12 digs.  Sophomore Jen Grenauer added nine kills with a season high three total blocks.  Sokolovich took match high honors with 17 digs, while Guarino tallied 15 digs and Koenig 33 assists.

D'Imperio led the Knights with 10 kills, while Kuklutz paired seven kills and 12 digs.

The teams have also met in each of the last two CSAC Championship matches.  Cabrini topped Neumann 3-0 in 2011 to claim its third consecutive conference crown.  The Knights took last season's championship with a hard fourth 3-2 victory, taking the fifth set 15-10.
