Volleyball Sweeps Leads to 4-0 Start

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – The Cabrini volleyball team continued its solid play at the DeSales University Invitational today, as the Cavaliers closed the two day event with 3-0 victories over Albright College and DeSales to improve to 4-0, the team's best start since the 2003 campaign.

Senior Danielle Carrozza was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player after adding 27 kills and 15 digs in today's matches to yesterday's 30 kills and 21 digs.  Fellow senior Sophia Sokolovich was also name to the all-tournament team after posting 39 digs on the day.

The Blue and White opened the day with a 25-19, 25-11, 25-22 win over Albright.  Carrozza led the way with 12 kills, while sophomore Jen Grenauer and freshman Kelly Guarino added seven each.  Sokolovich recorded 21 digs in the opener.  Sophomore setter Cassidy Koenig recorded assists on 30 of Cabrini's 34 kills in the match. 

Cabrini closed the event with a 25-20, 25-21, 25-14 victory over the host.  Carrozza fired 15 kills, as Guarino and senior Michele Fitz tallied seven kills each.  Sokolovich tallied 18 digs, while Carrozza and Guarino added nine each.  Koenig posted 34 helper and junior Dana Wisniewski recorded three total blocks.  

The Cavaliers will travel to Baltimore, Md. next weekend for Greg Giovannazzi Memorial Tournament at Johns Hopkins University.  Cabrini will face Stevenson University (4-0) and Johns Hopkins (0-3) on Friday, before meeting Goucher (3-1) and North Carolina Wesleyan Colleges (0-2) on Saturday.
