ST. DAVIDS, Pa. – The Cabrini women's soccer team suffered its first loss of the 2013 campaign, falling to Eagle Road rival Eastern University. The loss drops the Blue and White to 1-1-2 on the season.
The Cavaliers dominated much of the play in the opening 45 minutes of play, outshooting the Eagles 10-2 before the break, but could not find the back of the net. The game remained scoreless until the 59th minute when Eastern's Victoria Graham tallied the only goal of the afternoon.
The Blue and White had its chances, firing a season-high 20 shots. Sophomores Dana Peterson and Meghan Martin had perhaps the best chances of the day, both finding the post. Peterson and juniors Melissa Scanzano and Gabby Meck led the Cavaliers with three shots each.
"The way we dominated the first half shows the potential of our team," said head coach Ken Prothero. "We outshot them 20-6 and hit the post 2 or 3 times. Eastern had one good opportunity and they finished it. I know we will grow from this and come out strong against Arcadia on Saturday."
Freshman netminder Marissa Jenkins recorded two saves on the day.
The Cavaliers will return to action on Saturday, when the team travels to Glenside, Pa. to face Arcadia University (2-0-2). Game time is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
