Women's Soccer Remains Unbeaten with Draw

Box Score

RADNOR, Pa. - For the second consecutive game, the Cabrini College women's soccer team needed overtime to determine a result.  But 110 minutes wasn't enough, as the Cavaliers tied the visiting DeSales University Bulldogs 2-2 today at Edith Robb Dixon Field.  The Blue and White now stand at 0-0-2 on the season.

The Bulldogs got on the board first, netting the only goal before the half in the 25th minute.  Head coach Ken Prothero challenged his club to turn up the pressure in the second half.  His works took less than six minutes to show dividends.

In the 51st minute, sophomore Kristina Startare found fellow sophomore Meghan Martin in scoring position and Martin took advantage, tallying her second goal of the season.  Martin struck again just four minutes later, when freshman Allie Vallen found her for the sophomore's fourth career tally.

DeSales fought back, leveling the score in the 67th minute.  Both teams had chances late, including an opportunity for the Bulldogs in the final 20 seconds, but Cabrini's freshman netminder Marissa Jenkins made a diving save, one of her four on the day.

Both teams registered 10 shots in the game, including by Martin's three and two each from junior Melissa Scanzano and sophomore Dana Peterson.  The Cavaliers also tallied four corner kicks to the Bulldogs' three.

Brady Walsh and Jessica Wetherhold notched the goals for DeSales (1-0-2).

Cabrini will return to action on Saturday, when they host Goucher College (1-1).  Game time is slated for 5:00 p.m. at Edith Robb Dixon Field.
