RADNOR, Pa. – The Cabrini women's basketball team rebounded nicely from Saturday's disappointing road loss to score a wire-to-wire 81-54 win over the visiting Marywood University Pacers at Nerney Field House. The victory improved the Blue and White to 13-4 overall and 7-1 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference.
The Cavaliers wasted little time taking control of the game, using a 15-3 spurt to build a 17-5 lead just eight minutes into the game. Cabrini held the Pacers to
single digits for more than 11 minutes of the opening half.
The Blue and White built a 44-27 halftime lead on the strength of 48.6% shooting and a dominant 30-12 advantage on the glass. Cabrini's 11 first half offensive rebounds led to 15 points, while the Cavaliers turned eight Marywood turnovers into 12 points.
The Cavaliers showed no letdown after the halftime break, holding Marywood to just 37% second half shooting, including 2-11 from three point range.
Junior
Amber Keys hit nine of her 15 field goal attempts for a team leading 19 points, while senior
Brittany Sandone tallied 18 points, including 3-5 for three point range. In just 21 minutes of action, junior
Megan Decker posted 14 points on 6-9 from the floor.
Cabrini closed the game with a 53-34 rebounding advantage, including eight boards from senior
Annie Rivituso and seven from Keys. Decker and senior
Colleen Stewart grabbed six caroms each. Tonight's win also marked the fifth game this season in which the club has recorded at least 20 assists, including a career high six dimes by sophomore
Meghan Martin.
Sophomore Daniella Terranella led the Pacers (11-5, 6-2 CSAC) with 15 points, while junior Joyce Nora added 10 points off the bench.
The Blue and White will return to action on Saturday as it travels to Hackettstown, N.J. to face Centenary College (6-9, 4-3 CSAC). Tip is slated for 1 p.m.
