Cavaliers Host Gwynedd Mercy in Regular Season Finale

What's at Stake?
The Cavaliers close out the regular season against Gwynedd Mercy. The Cavs, Griffins, and two other teams currently sit tied for second place in the conference standings. At stake is a possible #2 playoff seed and first-round bye with a win and some help. The four teams tied at 12-3 (in conference play) will decide the #2-#5 playoff positions with Saturday's action.

Last Meeting: Cabrini 75, Gwynedd Mercy 71 (1/9/17)
The Cavaliers battled through eight lead changes, 11 ties and five minutes of overtime, but in the end, the Cabrini women's basketball team emerged victorious. 

Sophomore Nomi Washington led all scorers with a career high 23 points, including seven points in overtime, to go with nine rebounds. Freshman Erin Dodds added 20 points and six rebounds. 

The Griffins received solid performances from junior Bianca Adams who tallied 18 points, as well as senior Nicole Dombrowski who finished with a double-double (10 points, 15 rebounds). 

Cabrini Last Time Out: Defeated Keystone 84-51 (2/15/17)
The Blue and White shot 50% (33-66) from the field and 53.8% (7-13) from beyond the arc in Wednesday night's CSAC matchup. The Cavaliers recent string of hot shooting continued, as four players recorded double-digit point totals.

Washington led the way for the Cavaliers, finishing with a game high 19 points, as well as chipping in six assists and five steals. Senior Renee Oliver had her streak of three consecutive double-doubles snapped, but still managed to finish with 17 points, a new career high, and added six rebounds. Dodds finished with 16 points and six assists, the latter matching her career high. Not to be outdone, Junior Myonie Williamson posted the only double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. 

Gwynedd Mercy Last Time Out: Defeated Clarks Summit 74-25 (2/15/17)
The Griffins cruised in Wednesday night's matchup against the Defenders. The hosts received noteworthy performances from Dombrowski and senior Charlotte Kucowski. The duo combined for 27 points, 10 rebounds, six steals, and five assists while shooting 12-for-19 from the field. 

Gwynedd Mercy held their opposition to to 23.8% shooting from the field while also forcing 27 turnovers.

  • The Cavs currently rank second in the CSAC in scoring defense, allowing just 54.5 points per game.
  • Williamson and Oliver have combined to averaged 29.3 points and 17 rebounds over their last three games.
  • As a team, the Blue and White sit atop the conference in three point field goal percentage, connecting on 30.6% of attempts. 
  • The Cavaliers have only allowed one conference opponent to score more than 62 points while at home this season. 
  • In those contests, the Cavs have gone 6-1, giving up an average of 47.4 points.
