Cabrini University Cavaliers (22-10, 6-0 Atlantic East)
The Cavaliers will make their first ECAC appearance since 2012, as the host and top seed for the 2018 event. Cabrini enters the tournament after seeing its conference championship streak come to an end with Saturday's 3-1 loss to Marymount in the Atlantic East Conference championship game.
The Blue and White is led by 2018 Atlantic East Co-Player of the Year, sophomore
Steph Judkins. The sophomore's 505 kills rank fifth in Division III, while her 5.0 points per set rank seventh. Senior
Emily Shannon ranks among the team's leaders in kills, assists, digs and service aces.
Fellow senior
Ashley Shannon ranks third in the conference with 466 digs, while freshman
Hannah Dalton's 100 total blocks tops the league table.
Lebanon Valley College Dutchmen (18-12, 6-2 MAC Commonwealth)
The Dutchmen secured their spot in this weekend's action after a convincing 3-0 (25-15, 25-15, 25-14) win over Rutgers-Newark in Wednesday's first round. The 2018 MAC Commonwealth Player of the Year, senior Jess Attieh, led the way offensively with a match-high 17 kills, while MAC Commonwealth Rookie of the year, freshman Reily Shelly, added nine digs.
The Lebanon Valley offense goes through Attieh, as the senior leads the team with 394 kills and 4.97 points per set, seventh in Division III. The senior also ranks among the nation's best with her .362 hitting percentage and 4.11 kills per set. Attieh also adds a defensive presence with a team-high 73 blocks.
Sophomore Jensen Burnheimer quarterbacks the attack with 708 assists, while classmate Emily Smeltz's 320 digs lead a quad that boasts six players with more than 100 digs.  Â
McDaniel College (21-8, 7-3 Centennial)
After rolling to a 3-0 win over Franklin & Marshall in the Centennial Conference Tournament, the Green Terror's title hopes fell short, as McDaniel suffered a 3-0 (25-12, 25-16, 25-22) loss to Johns Hopkins in Sunday's championship match.
The Green Terror hit a season-low .061 and scored just 22 kills in the loss. Sophomore Marlow Embry paired eight kills and seven digs to lead McDaniel, while classmates Gayle Edelstein and Kendall Hanak scored eight digs each. Â
Marlow paired AVCA All-Region and All-Centennial Conference honors after leading the team with 311 kills. Senior Taylor Bauman joined the sophomore with all-region accolades, as she led the Green Terror with 474 digs and ranked third with 29 aces.
Misericordia University Cougars (26-10, 5-2 MAC Freedom)
The Cougars saw their 10 match win streak come to an end with a 3-0 loss to Eastern in the semifinal round of the MAC Freedom Tournament. Misericordia rebounded on Wednesday, scoring a five set (25-22, 25-14, 19-25, 20-25, 15-12) win over john Jay in the first round of the ECAC Tournament.
Senior Tara Welliver led the team with 19 kills and five service aces, while junior Jassmine Watson added 13 kills. Sophomore Sarah Pool paired 10 kills and nine digs, with junior Karley May scoring 48 assists.
The Cougars boast one of the nation's top offenses, as they lead Div. III with 388 aces and rank in the top 10 in kills and assists. Karley May's 1,336 assists lead the country, while her 92 aces rank second, followed by Welliver's 83.
Welliver and freshman Jessica Oltman, who both garnered All-MAC Freedom second-team honors, have sparked the Cougars attack this season. Welliver ranks fourth in the MAC Freedom in hitting percentage (.322) while Oltman ranks fifth (.301).
Neumann University Knights (17-16, 4-2 Atlantic East)
No stranger to Nerney Field House, Neumann cruised to a 3-0 (25-19, 25-16, 25-15 win over Brooklyn in the first round of the ECAC Tournament. AVCA All-Region performer junior Melanie Malseed paired 12 kills, 11 digs and five aces, while freshman Ariana Pena and senior Rachael Hofman combined for 20 kills.
Malseed was named Atlantic East Defensive Player of the Year after posting a team-high462 kills, seventh in the country, and 452 digs. junior Hayley Glah leads the club with 457 digs and surpassed the 1,000 career dig mark on Wednesday.
Malseed is just one of four Knights to surpass 230 kills on the season, as Hoffman (270), freshman Bre Hickey (249) and Pena (236) have made significant contributions to the attack. Junior Rachel Cray and sophomore Alex Koppany direct the balance attack to the tune of a combined 1,152 assists.
New York University (19-16, 2-5 UAA)
After a sixth place finish at the University Athletic Association (UAA) championship last week, NYU rebounded to score a dominant 3-0 (25-12, 25-17, 25-16) win over Mt. St. Mary in the opening round of the ECAC Tournament.
The Violets had one of their best offensive performances of the season in Wednesday's win, as their .369 hitting percentage was their second highest of the season. Six Violets notched 6-9 kills, with freshman Abby Ausmus' nine kills leading the team, while sophomore Jacqueline Kupeli added 16 digs.
Senior Nazzarne Waldon's 289 kills lead a balanced attack that features six players with north of 100 kills. Ausmus and classmate Gretchen Kincade join Waldon with 200 kills at 280 and 233, respectively.
NYU derives much of its defensive success at the net, as it ranks second in the country with 284 total blocks, while its 2.2 blocks per set are good for 11th. Ausmus owns 116 of those blocks, 15th in Div. III, while Kincade (88) and freshman Emily Kleck (80) also rank among the UAA's leaders.
Penn State University Behrend Lions (20-10, 8-1 AMCC)
The Lions were poised to raise the AMCC crown on Sunday, holding a 2-0 lead over Pitt-Bradford, but the Lions' lead slipped away before dropping a heartbreaking 18-16 fifth set. The club regrouped on Wednesday, rolling to a 3-0 (25-17, 25-18, 25-22) win over Wilkes in the opening round of the ECAC Tournament.
Senior Lexi Irwin narrowly missed her fourth triple-double, pairing eight kills, 24 assists and nine digs in the win. Freshman Kristin Reiland and senior Amanda Henry added seven kills each, while sophomore Madison Clapper chipped in with 16 digs.
Irwin's contribution are scattered throughout the stat sheet, as the senior ranks among team leaders with 222 kills, 896 assists, 256 digs and 60 blocks. Henry leads a balanced attack, as her 277 kills pace five players with more than 150 kills on the season.
Irwin is one of five Lions to record more than 200 digs on the season, as Clapper's 512 lead the team and rank fourth in the AMCC. Junior Alex Parra also plays a significant part of the Lions' defensive scheme, as her 111 total blocks lead the AMCC.
Westminster College Titans (30-3, 15-1 PAC)
Defending ECAC champions Westminster brings one of the nation's best records into Saturday's action. The Titans fell to 30-3 overall on Saturday, as they suffered a 3-0 (28-26, 25-14, 25-21) loss to Bethany in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) championship match.
Senior Delaney Saxton led the Titans with 15 kills, while classmate Rachel Moore and junior Reilly DeGeorge surpassed 20 digs each. Freshman Samantha Kelly and senior Shanna Daniels combined for 35 assists in the loss.
In addition to the nation's eighth ranked win percentage (.909), Westminster ranks among the nation's top 20 in seven statistical categories, including total digs (1st-2,500) and team kills (13th-1,556).
Saxton and DeGeorge provide the Titan's 1-2 punch with 384 and 349 kills, respectively, while freshman Maya Steward has scored 246 kills. Defensively, four Titans have recorded north of 300 digs on the season, with Moore's 667 leading the team and ranking 20th in the country.
