What's at Stake
Saturday's winner will advance to the second round of the NCAA tournament where they will face the winner of No. 9 Misericordia University vs. Rowan University. The second round matchup will be played on Sunday at 6pm. Second-round winners will advance to one of four sectional sites on November 16th and 17th or 17th and 18th. All games, except the semifinals and final, will be played on the campuses of competing institutions.

Saturday's first round matchup will mark the second consecutive year and the ninth time overall that the Cavaliers will compete in the NCAA women's soccer tournament. Last season's NCAA tournament matchup featured a 6-0 loss at the hands of then No. 7 Christopher Newport University.

Boasting just a pair of losses, the No. 4 ranked Johns Hopkins (17-2-0) women's soccer team had its' 15 game winning streak snapped by Swarthmore College in the Centennial Conference Championship game, by a 5-1 final. It will be the 14th consecutive NCAA tournament appearance for the Blue Jays and their 17th overall appearance.

How They Got Here: Pool-B Berth Secures Cavaliers Trip to NCAA Tournament
The Blue and White split their first four games of the regular season, but found their groove over their next 10 games as they won eight, including a pair of three game win streaks.

Victories over Rutgers-Camden (2-1), Alvernia University (4-2), Wesley College (1-0), and Neumann University (3-1) highlighted the run for the Cavaliers. A 1-1 tie against Immaculata capped the regular season, but both teams would meet again just a week later.

Cabrini, who secured the Atlantic East's Conference (AEC) No. 1 seed, hosted the Mighty Macs in the conference tournament's semifinal match. Despite outshooting the Macs by a distinct 22-5 margin, including a 9-3 advantage in shots on goal, Immaculata edged the Cavaliers by a 3-0 final.

The Blue and White would go on to earn its' tournament berth by virtue of a pool-B berth following the AEC tournament.

How They Got Here: 15 Game Winning Streak Propels Hopkins into Tourney
Fueled by a 15 game winning streak, The Blue Jays earned an at-large bid to the tournament after falling to Swarthmore in the Centennial Conference Tournament Final.

Hopkins finished the regular season with a 10-0 Centennial record and is currently 17-2 overall.  JHU is ranked fourth in the country and is led by graduate student Michelle Santangelo (12g, 27 pts.) and freshman Rachel Jackson (11g, 27 pts.).

Hopkins leads the Centennial Conference in goals (60) and also boasts one of the league's best defenses, allowing just 0.79 goals per game as keeper Robyn Lipschultz leads the way with a 12-2 overall record with five shutouts this season. Hopkins advanced to the Elite Eight last season, before falling to Williams College, 3-0.

Cabrini Last Time Out: Cavs Upset in Atlantic East Semifinal (10/31/18)
The No. 6 seeded Immaculata University Mighty Macs entered the second round thanks to a 3-2 victory over the No. 3 seeded Knights in the AEC quarterfinal match and did just enough to find a way to win against the Cavaliers in the semifinal match.

Cabrini held a distinct 22-5 advantage in shots, including a a 9-3 advantage in shots on goal, while also attempting 10 corner kicks to Immaculata's six.

Mighty Mac keeper Brooke Shissler anchored the visiting back line as she proved up to the task of stopping the Blue and White attack. Shissler's nine saves were her most in a shutout this season.

Cabrini freshman forward Kaitryn Cloud paced the team with four shots, while six other Cavaliers tallied two shots each.

Immaculata opened the scoring in the second minute as a corner from Carrie Quigley missed its original target, but found an uncovered Carly Quigley just inside the 18 yard box. (Carly) Quigley delivered a strike past sophomore Ashley Tutzauer for the 1-0 advantage. Just six minutes later, Quigley doubled the Macs lead with her second goal of the game as she teed up a shot from 40 yards out.

Facing a 2-0 deficit, the Cavaliers turned up the pressure, resulting in a 10-0 advantage in shots over the next 60 minutes, but couldn't find the back of the net.

Immaculata capitalized on the Cavs offensive minded attack as the IU defense dumped a ball deep in the Cabrini zone, a ball that would ultimately be won by the Macs' Riley Rudd. Rudd delivered with goal in the 84th minute to seal the victory over Cabrini.

Johns Hopkins Last Time Out: Swarthmore Rallies Past Hopkins in Conference Final (11/4/18)
For the second straight year, the Johns Hopkins women's soccer team fell to Swarthmore in the Centennial Conference Tournament Final as the Garnet claimed the team's second title with a 5-1 victory on Sunday afternoon.

The Garnet opened up the scoring just three minutes into the game as Amy Harris sent the ball to Lizzie King on the left side of the field and King made a nice move to get past her defender for the score.  Marin McCoy and the Garnet doubled their lead in the 31st minute as she took a cross from Melissa Curran from the left side and tucked the ball into the left post. The 2-0 lead would hold steady into the intermission.

Three second half goals for Swarthmore ballooned the lead to 5-0 before a goal in 74th minute from Hopkins' Jesse Cole made it a 5-1 contest.

The loss marked the first for the Blue Jays since September 5th and ended their 15 game winning streak. The five goals allowed were also the most JHU has allowed in a tournament game and the most Johns Hopkins has given up since 2015 when Messiah scored five goals in the September 9th meeting.
