Last Meeting: Cabrini 1, Gwynedd Mercy 0 (10/20/18, Gwynedd Valley, PA)
Despite the narrow outcome, the Blue and White controlled much of the action as they held a 14-6 advantage in shots, including an 8-3 advantage in shots on goal. Cabrini also notched seven corners to the Griffins zero.
Junior keeper
Ashley Tutzauer tallied her third shutout of the season, needing just three save to do so.
Tori Kasper, and juniors
Brianna Blair and
Rachel Wood all recorded a team high two shots on the afternoon.
Blair, an anchor on the Cavaliers back line, took advantage of a Cabrini corner kick in the 26th minute as she was freed up to help on the offensive end. The 5'7" sophomore used every inch of her frame as she connected off of junior
Marissa Portelli's corner for a header that snuck past the arms of Griffins' keeper Kailey Hopkins.
Blair's first goal of the season gave the Cavs a 1-0 advantage and would prove to be the game winner as Blair, and the rest of the Cavs' back line, stifled the Gwynedd Mercy attack en route to the 1-0 final.
The Blue and White allowed just four shots in the remaining 64 minutes of play, three of which came in a two minute span in the second half.
Cabrini Last Time Out: Cabrini 2, Marywood 0 (10/23/19, Radnor, PA)
The Cavaliers controlled the action as they tallied 23 shots, their third highest output of the season, while holding the Pacers to 13 shots. The Cavs also posted a 7-2 advantage in corners.
Senior
Marissa Portelli and junior
Maria Hagan paced the offensive attack with a pair of goals in the 55th and 75 minute, respectively. Junior
Brianna Blair and senior
Lindsey Armanini each marked the assist column, while junior
Alex Garcés led the team with five shots.
The Blue and White narrowly missed a goal with just over 30 seconds to play in the first half after Armanini floated a shot over Marywood goalie Bella DiToma, but a Pacer defender redirected the ball in midair for the team save to preserve the 0-0 tie into the break.
Portelli would hand the Cavs the lead in the 55th minute thanks to a long throw in from Blair that landed just outside the six yard box.
Cabrini would pad their lead 20 minutes later as Hagan headed a perfectly placed corner from Armanini into the top left corner of the net for the 2-0 advantage. The Cavalier back line suffocated the Pacer attack as they limited Marywood to just a pair of shots in the final 15 minutes of play.
Junior netminder
Ashley Tutzauer tallied four saves and the shutout, her seventh of the season.
