Last Meeting: Cabrini 2, Bryn Mawr 1 (8/31/18, Bryn Mawr, PA)
The Blue and White were led offensively by senior
Diana VanSickle and sophomore
Kait Cloud who each tallied a goal. Cloud's strike proved to be the game winner as she found the back of the net in the 89th minute.
Payton Greene and senior
Katelyn Gilinger tallied three and two shots, respectively, while the Cavs as a team out shot the Owls by a 17-6 margin.
Bryn Mawr struck first as sophomore Elizabeth Hummel notched her first collegiate goal in the 14th minute after making a long run down the right side of the field and finishing her shot just inside the box.
The 1-0 Bryn Mawr advantage would stand well past halftime thanks to strong defense from the hosts. Owls' junior keeper Kinsey Schwab highlighted the defensive effort as she made six saves on the night, but the Blue and White would ultimately spoil her efforts with a pair of late goals.
VanSickle, after navigating to the middle of the box, delivered an unassisted equalizer in the 84th minute to knot things at one a piece. Just five minutes later, Cloud would cap the scoring and seal a dramatic come-from-behind victory for the Cavs to secure their first win of the season.
Cabrini Last Time Out: No. 4 Johns Hopkins 3, Cabrini 1 (11/10/18, Baltimore, MD)
The Cabrini women's soccer team went toe to toe with the No. 4 ranked Johns Hopkins Blue Jays in Saturday's NCAA opening round game, but ultimately saw their upset bid fall short as the hosting Blue Jays escaped with a 3-1 final.
Junior keeper
Ashley Tutzauer had a career day as she anchored the Cabrini defense with a career best 15 saves. The Toms River, NJ native faced a total of 32 shots, including 18 shots on frame, from a relentless Hopkins attack.
Classmate Alex Garces led the Cavs with a pair of shots, including the first Cabrini NCAA tournament goal since 2003 against Mary Washington. Garces' sixth goal of the season came in the 53rd minute courtesy of a beautiful pass over the top from Gilinger. The goal cut a 2-0 Hopkins' lead in half and briefly swung momentum in favor of the Blue and White.
A shot from JHU's Emily Maheras ten minutes later began to swing the pendulum back in favor of the hosts, however, as the Blue Jays tallied clean shots in the 64th, 66th, 67th, and 68th minute, all of which were denied by Tutzauer.
Another Manheras attempt in the 70th minute, however found pay dirt past the outstretched arms of Tutzauer to seal the victory for the Blue Jays.
Bryn Mawr Last Time Out: Ursinus 8, Bryn Mawr 1 (10/27/18, Collegeville, PA)
Despite a strong effort all-around from the Owls, including the first career goal for senior forward Catherine Bactat, Bryn Mawr was unable to match the offensive firepower that Ursinus brought in today's contest.
Despite the scoreline, it was actually the Owls who got the first great chance of the day, as Kass Wojick ripped a shot on goal a minute into the contest. Ursinus' keeper Sabrina Doherty was there to make the save, however, and that led to the Bears being on the front foot for the next 15 minutes. Owl's goalkeeper Leah Baer made a particularly strong save during that stretch to stop the Bears from scoring, but Ursinus would eventually break through just minutes later.
The Bears would would go on to score six unanswered goals before Bryn Mawr's Hummel broke the drought for the visitors.
