Last Meeting: Cabrini 2, Rutgers-Camden 1 (9/19/18, Camden, NJ)
Both teams nearly matched the other throughout the 90 minute match, as the Scarlet Raptors held a narrow advantage in shots (9-7) and corner kicks (2-1), while the Blue and White put more shots on goal (6-5) and ultimately came away with the 2-1 victory.
Cabrini had a pair of early chances, both coming off the foot of junior Alex Garces, as the forward put two shots on goal in the 10th and 16th minute, respectively. After a flurry of failed attacks and counter-attacks from both sides, the Cavs finally broke through in the 41st minute to claim the 1-0 lead.
Sophomore Kelly Kane lofted a beautiful ball towards the left post for junior
Brittany Purdy who managed to corral the pass and deliver a high strike past Scarlet Raptors' keeper Natalie Eberhardt for her second goal of the season.
The Blue and White carried the 1-0 lead, and momentum, through the intermission until they doubled down in the 69th minute as senior
Katelyn Gilinger celebrated her birthday in style with her team leading third goal of the year. Thanks to a pass from
Tori Kasper that sailed over the defense, Gilinger was able to capitalize on a breakaway and chip the ball over a charging Eberhardt to stake Cabrini with the 2-0 lead.
Rutgers-Camden would get one back just 10 minutes later, however, as Kala de Guzman snuck the ball inside the left post and past junior goalie
Ashley Tutzauer. Tutzauer and the Cabrini defense would stiffen, however and allow the hosts just two more shots, both of which were off the mark. The sophomore keeper finished the night with four saves.
Cabrini Last Time Out: Cabrini 1, Washington College 1 (9/14/19, Radnor PA)
Gilinger notched her second tally of the season, this one of the unassisted variety, as her second half goal evened the Blue and White with Washington College. The veteran tied for the team lead with two shots on the day as juniors
Brianna Blair and Alex Garces also finished with a pair of shots.
In total, 10 different Cavaliers contributed to Cabrini's 13 shots on the day. The Shorewomen held a slight 6-3 advantage in shots on goal, while the Blue and White took a commanding 11-4 advantage in corner kicks.
The opening stanza featured a back and forth contest with the Washington College offense holding a slight advantage. Tutzauer was up to the task, however as the netminder tallied three of her five saves in the first 45 minutes.
Despite her efforts, the Shorewomen would open the scoring early in the second half as Lauren Maynor took a pass from Maia Duval and managed to push the ball past Tutzauer for the 1-0 lead.
Gilinger responded just over 10 minutes later with her aforementioned strike to even things at one apiece. The two teams traded corners late in half, but neither offense was able to capitalize.
The offensive lul continued through both overtime periods as the two teams combined for just three shots with Tutzauer securing two saves.
Rutgers-Camden Last Time Out: Moravian 1, Rutgers-Camden 0 (9/14/19, Bethlehem, PA)
It only took one shot by host Moravian College, however, to send the Scarlet Raptors to their fourth straight loss.
Paige Weiss headed home a corner kick by Megan Chesney at 60:59, lifting Moravian to a 1-0 victory over Rutgers-Camden. It was the third goal of the season for Weiss, helping to lift the Greyhounds to 3-2.
Rutgers-Camden falls to 0-4 with its second shutout defeat in three games.
Moravian outshot Rutgers-Camden, 14-3, collecting seven shots in both halves. The Greyhounds held an 11-4 advantage in corner kicks, including 8-3 in the second half.
