Volleyball set for Atlantic East title match against Marymount

RADNOR, Pa. – The Cabrini University women's volleyball team will host the 2022 Atlantic East Women's Volleyball Championship on Saturday, as the top-seeded Cavs (20-11) takes on second-seeded Marymount University (18-14) at 4 p.m. at the Nerney Field House.

It's the second straight appearance for the Cavs in the title match, as Cabrini captured its first AEC Championship last season. It's also the third time the two schools have met in the title match, with Cabrini winning last year's bout, 3-1. Marymount won the matchup back in 2018 by a 3-1 score.

The lone matchup between the two squads was a classic back on October 22, with Cabrini taking a 2-0 lead and then having to fend off a Marymount rally to win 3-2.

Marymount, who defeated Neumann on Thursday night in its semifinal matchup, is led by senior outside hitter Elissa Munsterman who has 418 kills, with senior libero Natalie Garbalosa having 335 digs defensively. Senior setter Alexis Franklin has 521 assists and 51 service aces, with junior middle hitter Myia Jeter posting 93 blocks at the net.

Cabrini, who defeated Marywood on Thursday night to advance to the final, is led by graduate outside hitter Hannah Dalton who has 443 kills on the season, with graduate libero Gina Custer netting 587 digs.

Senior setter Melanie Cotes-Rivera has 355 assists, with sophomore defensive specialist Jessie Donovan getting 46 aces. At the net, junior middle blocker Lilyanna Baynum has 55 blocks.
