Box Score 2 HAVERFORD, PA – The Cabrini volleyball team rallied from a tough five set defeat on Friday, rolling to a pair of wins to close the Haverford Invitational. The Cavaliers improved to 2-1 on the young season after matching 3-0 victories over New Jersey City and Stockton.
The Blue and White cruised to a 25-16, 25-9, 25-16 triumph over NCJU behind a balanced team effort.
Graduate student
Hannah Dalton led the way with 11 kills and 14 digs, both team highs. Senior
Taylor Downing directed to attack to the tune of eight assists, two more than classmate
Melanie Cotes-Rivera.
Sophomore
Jessie Donovan accounted for four of the team's eight service aces, while graduate student
Gina Custer tallied 13 digs.
The Blue and White carried its momentum into the nightcap, scoring a 25-11, 25-22, 25-23 victory over the Ospreys.
Dalton posted her third double-double in as many matches, pairing 15 kills and 20 digs. Sophomore
Sam Heenan fell just shy of the mark with nine kills and 13 digs.
Cotes-Rivera posted 18 dimes, while Downing tallied 11. Custer chipped in with 17 digs.
The Blue and White added 10 points from the service line, as Donovan scored three service aces, with Cotes-Rivera, Dalton and Heenan adding two each.
Dalton represented the Cavaliers on the All-Tournament team after totaling 41 kills and 55 digs in three matches over the weekend.
Cabrini will make its home debut on Thursday night, when it welcomes Lancaster Bible College (0-3) to Nerney Field House. The nonconference action will get underway at 7pm.
