Volleyball Blanks Cedar Crest College, 3-0

The Cabrini volleyball team rolled to its fifth win in CSAC play Thursday with a 3-0 shutout against Cedar Crest College.

The Cabrini volleyball team captured its fifth win in six tries to open the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) schedule with a 3-0 win against Cedar Crest College at Nerney Field House Thursday. Junior setter Lizzie Williams guided the Cavaliers' offense with a  team-best 22 assists in the victory.

Sophomore Stephanie Recklau led a balanced attack, claiming seven kills on 20 attempts. Freshman Danielle Kulich totaled six kills on just nine tries.

Nine Cabrini student-athletes logged at least one kill against the Falcons, including four players with four kills apiece.

Junior Kate Conahan steered the Cavaliers' offense in the third set, recording eight assists.

The Cabrini backline mirrored its play at the net, boasting a balanced effort. Senior Michelle Mola and Williams led the Cavaliers' defense with eight digs each.

Senior Danielle Finnegan tallied seven digs and junior Traci Beltz recorded six.

Senior Kaitlyn Fetterman and Recklau each notched four total blocks. Freshman Alexis Doss registered three block assists.

The Cavaliers cruised to a commanding two-set lead following 25-17 and 25-9 victories in the opening frames. Cabrini clinched the win with a 25-16 triumph in the third game.

The Cavaliers logged a match-high .350 attack clip in the second set, burying nine kills on 20 attempts.

Cabrini (14-10, 5-1) continues CSAC Monday, October 20 at Marywood University. Match time is set for 7 p.m.
