SAINT MARY'S, Md. – The Cabrini volleyball team split its final two non-conference matches of the regular season Saturday, sweeping Rutgers University – Newark, 3-0, before a 3-0 setback against Saint Mary's College (Md.) at the Saint Mary's Tournament.
Against the Scarlet Raiders, the Cavaliers tallied a staggering .547 attack percentage, their second-best output of the season. Cabrini totaled a .607 hitting clip against Rosemont College October 11.
Sophomore Stephanie Recklau led the charge with a team-high eight kills on just 11 attempts, yielding a .727 attack percentage. Rookie Alexis Doss notched seven kills.
Senior Lindsay Martin and junior Traci Beltz each registered five kills.
Junior setter Lizzie Williams recorded 17 assists. Williams also contributed seven service aces.
Defensively, freshman Courtney Abel paced the Cavaliers' backline with a club-leading eight digs. Senior Michelle Mola added seven.
Cabrini cruised to a two-set advantage following wins of 25-4 and 25-8 to open the match. The Cavaliers clinched the victory with a 25-13 triumph in the third game.
Cabrini buried 12 kills on just 17 tries in the first set, posting a .647 attack percentage. The Cavaliers tallied 10 kills in each of the final two sets.
Against Saint Mary's, Cabrini struggled offensively, totaling a .092 attack clip. Senior Kaitlyn Fetterman, Martin and Recklau led the attack with four kills apiece.
Williams served 13 helpers, while Mola scooped a team-high nine digs.
Third-seeded Cabrini (18-12, 8-2) will host the sixth-seeded College of Notre Dame Tuesday, November 4 at 7 p.m. in the quarterfinal round of the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) Tournament.
