LANGHORNE, Pa. – The third-seeded Cabrini volleyball team will play for the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) title following a 3-2 win at second-seeded Philadelphia Biblical University Thursday. The Cavaliers will vie for their first conference championship in program history Saturday.
In head coach Eric Schaefer's first season in 2007, Cabrini matched the program standard with 19 victories. Thursday's win brings the Cavaliers to the 20-win plateau for the first time in program history.
Junior setter Lizzie Williams led the charge against the Crimson Eagles, posting her seventh double-double of the season with a team-high 33 assists and 13 digs. Williams also added four kills and three total blocks.
Junior outside hitter Traci Beltz powered the Cavaliers' attack with a club-best 12 kills and .281 attack percentage. Freshman outside hitter Alexis Doss totaled 10 kills.
Senior middle Kaitlyn Fetterman collected eight kills.
In addition to Williams, four Cavaliers tallied at least 10 digs. Senior Michelle Mola paced the Cabrini backline with a team-best 15 digs. Freshman Courtney Abel added 12.
Senior Lindsay Martin and senior Danielle Finnegan notched 11 digs and 10 digs, respectively.
Sophomore Stephanie Recklau totaled five kills and three block assists.
Cabrini raced to a one-set advantage after burying 11 kills on just 21 attempts, yielding an attack percentage of .476, in game one. PBU evened the contest with a narrow 30-28 victory in the second set.
The Cavaliers grabbed a 2-1 match edge after a 25-23 win in the third set. The Crimson Eagles forced a decisive fifth game with a 25-15 triumph in game four.
Cabrini closed out the match following a 15-10 victory in the fifth set.
The Cavaliers will meet top-seed Neumann College Saturday for the CSAC title. Match time is to be announced.
