GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa. – The Cabrini field hockey team topped Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) opponent Gwynedd-Mercy College, 3-1, Saturday afternoon. Sophomore midfielder Maura Gordon notched her third hat trick of the season for the Cavaliers in the victory.
Gordon scored the game's first goal just 60 seconds in off a feed from senior midfielder Lynda Kaufmann.
The Griffins answered with the equalizer in the 27th minute. Kayla Farrow converted a pass from Dottie O'Neil, tying the game at 1-1.
Gordon handed the Cavaliers a 2-1 advantage and a lead it would never relinquish with the contest's decisive goal at the 42:23 mark. Junior midfielder Shannon Mulhern earned the assist on the go-ahead tally.
Gordon added Cabrini's insurance goal in the 59th minute, an unassisted marker and her team-best 15th of the season. Gordon leads the Cavaliers with 33 points on 15 goals and three assists.
Despite the 3-1 victory, Cabrini was out-shot for the game, 18-9. Gordon led the charge with four shots.
Junior goalkeeper Caitlin Donahue totaled four saves in the win for the Blue & White. GMC goalkeeper Kate Eschbach tallied one save.
Cabrini (8-9, 6-2) wraps ups its regular season schedule at home against non-conference foe Alvernia University Wednesday, October 29 at 4 p.m.
