RADNOR, Pa. –
The Cabrini volleyball team put the finishing touches on its first perfect regular season against Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) opposition in program history with a  3-0 win against Marywood University at Nerney Field House Tuesday night. The Cavaliers have won 22 games overall in 2009, matching the program record for victories in a single season.

The win was also Cabrini's eighth straight overall and eighth consecutive sweep. The Cavaliers last lost a set October 3 at Franklin & Marshall College.

Senior setter Lizzie Williams guided the Cabrini attack with a match-best 24 assists. The Cavaliers notched a .267 attack percentage, eclipsing the .250 barrier for the 14th time this season and seven time in the last eight matches.

Sophomore libero Courtney Abel anchored the Cabrini defense, posting a club-leading 12 digs. Williams coupled her assists effort with eight digs, five kills and two service aces.

The Cavaliers raced to a two-set advantage with identical 25-13 wins in games one and two. The Blue & White backed the Pacers into a corner and on the brink of defeat with a .348 team hitting clip in the second stanza.

Cabrini clinched the victory with a 25-16 triumph in the third set.

Third-year head coach Eric Schaefer has led the Cavaliers to back-to-back 22-win seasons. In three seasons, Schaefer has posted a resounding 63-28 overall record.

Cabrini (22-6, 11-0) has earned the No. 1 seed for the CSAC Tournament and receives a quarterfinal round bye. The Cavaliers will host the semifinal round at Nerney Field House Thursday, November 5. Match time is to be determined.
