Delaware Valley College Downs Field Hockey, 4-2

Senior forward Bridget Bergen recorded her first goal of the season against Delaware Valley College Tuesday.

DOYLESTOWN, Pa. –
The Cabrini field hockey team suffered a 4-2 loss Tuesday at non-conference opponent Delaware Valley College. Senior forward Bridget Bergen notched her first goal of the season for the Cavaliers in the loss.

The Aggies jumped out to a 2-0 advantage before intermission. Holly Rich, off a feed from Bethany Pavlik, put the hosts on the scoreboard in the 4th minute. Rony Jacober's tally at the 27:44 mark handed Del Val its second goal of the opening half.

The Cavaliers cut into its deficit less than five minutes after the start of the second period. Bergen's unassisted marker in the 40th minute cut the Aggies' two-goal advantage in half.

However, Del Val answered with two scores separated by 72 seconds. Danielle Heyne recorded an assist on each goal, aiding Pavlik at the 57:07 mark and Missy Milanese at the 58:19 mark.

The Blue & White answered with the final goal of the contest at the 61:04 mark from junior forward Desiree Umosella, her second tally of the season.

Freshman goalkeeper Vicky King tallied a season-best 12 saves in the loss. Aggies cageminder Hollis Hancock made eight stops as Del Val earned its fourth win in five games to begin the 2009 campaign.

Cabrini (1-5) will look to rebound Thursday at Edith Robb Dixon Field versus Albright College. Game time is set for 4 p.m.
