RADNOR, Pa. –
The Cabrini field hockey team had its three-game win streak come to an end on Tuesday afternoon at Edith Robb Dixon Field after suffering a 2-1 loss versus Commonwealth Conference opponent Widener University. Junior midfielder Maura Gordon scored her 30th career goal for the Cavaliers in the loss.

Widener junior midfielder Kate Fay deposited the eventual game-winning tally in the 59th minute. Off a penalty corner, senior midfielder Megan Scarpinato flicked a shot through the arc and to the opposite post before Fay finished it past Cabrini senior goalkeeper Caitlin Donahue.

Gordon pulled the Blue & White even less than four minutes into the second half, gathering a loose ball and converting a rebound in front of Pride's cage. She is the second Cavalier to reach the 30-goal plateau for her career this season, joining junior forward Lauren Alessi.

Widener jumped out to 1-0 lead in the 27th minute after freshman forward Kate Erkoboni jammed home a deflection on the Cabrini doorstep.

The Cavaliers out-shot the Pride for the game overall, tallying a season-best 27 versus 18 from the visitors. Gordon led the Blue & White charge with seven shot attempts. Junior forward Stephanie Campanaro recorded six shots.

Cabrini also earned 13 penalty corners. The Cavaliers are averaging 12 penalty corner attempts in each of their seven outings.

Widener senior goalkeeper Megan Purcell posted 17 saves in the victory. Donahue totaled 10 stops for the Blue & White.

Today's game featuring Cabrini and Widener raised funds for the “Play 4 the Cure” campaign, a nation-wide initiative geared towards raising awareness for and battling breast cancer. “Play 4 the Cure” wristbands were sold and general donations were accepted. All proceeds will benefit the Susan G. Komen Foundation and American Cancer Society.

Both teams wore pink warm-up shirts. The Cavaliers donned pink knee-high socks.

Cabrini (6-5, 3-1) resumes its Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) regular season schedule tomorrow on the road against Cedar Crest College. Game time against the Falcons is set for 4 p.m.
