GLASSBORO, N.J. – The Cabrini men and women's track & field teams returned to the outdoor oval on Friday afternoon at the Rowan University Open. The Cavaliers' efforts were headlined by three top 5 performances.
Freshman Nadia Hernandez made her outdoor debut and finished second in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:10.21. Hernandez last competed at the Ursinus College Collegeville Classic during the indoor schedule.
Also in women's competition, sophomore Quiana Volney placed third in the 800m run, crossing the tape in 2:31.65. Volney is coming off a ninth-place performance in the 800m run (2:29.39) in her first outdoor race of the season at the Danny Curran Invitational.
On the men's side, rookie Jaiquann Beckham led the way with a third-place finish in the 800m run, clocking a time of 2:03.49. Junior David Stone finished 22nd with a time of 2:28.15 in his first outdoor meet of the season.
Stone also competed in the 5000m run, listing 13th with a time of 20:51.01. Freshman Tim Sayles was also making his outdoor debut and placed 12th with a time of 18:50.41.
Freshman Tyler Rooke posted a time of 4:33.17 in the 1500m run, placing 12th. Rookie Abiu Santos competed in the 400m run, listing 13th with a time of 54.09 seconds.
The Cabrini men and women's track & field programs resumes their outdoor schedules on Saturday, April 17 and Sunday, April 18 at the CTC Championships.
