RADNOR, Pa. –
The 9th-ranked Cabrini men's lacrosse team will play for its 10th straight Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) crown following a commanding 26-3 semifinal round victory against Immaculata University on Tuesday afternoon at Edith Robb Dixon Field. Senior attackman and 2010 Tewaaraton Award candidate Casey Grugan powered the Cavaliers in the win with six points.

Grugan, named the CSAC Player of the Year for the third straight season on Monday, paired four goals with two assists. He extended his nation-leading consecutive points streak to 73 games and NCAA Division III-record consecutive goals streak to 70 games. Grugan is one goal shy of becoming just the second player in program history to net 200 goals in a career.

Senior attackman Steve Kapp and sophomore attackman Brian Hill each recorded five points in the victory. Kapp handed out five assists, while Hill tallied three scores and distributed two helpers.

Freshman midfielder Andrew Protenic posted four points, scoring four goals. Junior attackman Jordan Coeyman, junior midfielder Paul Skulski and sophomore midfielder Joe Arrell each totaled three points with two goals and one assist.

The Cabrini offense boasted 15 players with at least one point, including junior midfielder Mark Hamilton, whose fourth quarter goal stands as the first of his career.

The Cavaliers' 26 goals in the program's most in a conference tournament game since a 25-3 victory against Eastern University in the 2008 title contest.

The Blue & White won the groundball battle convincingly, 70-31. Grugan led the Cavaliers in the hustle category, scooping a team-best nine groundballs.

Cabrini's effort in the face-off circle was near flawless as the No. 1 seed won 28-of-33 draw attempts. Juniors Mike Gurenlian and Joe Strain each recorded 10 face-off victories. Hamilton went 5-for-7 and freshman Ryan Sankey was a perfect 3-for-3.

Freshman goalkeeper Erick Zarzecki needed just one save in 30 minutes of action for his 13th win of the season. Sophomore cageminder Steve Farrell posted two stops in just 19 minutes played.

Cabrini jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the opening seven minutes of the first quarter. After the Mighty Macs got on the board at the 6:54 mark, the Cavaliers ran off 12 unanswered goals en route to a 15-2 cushion at the intermission. Grugan scored each of his four goals before halftime.

The Blue & White out-scored the visitors 4-0 in the third quarter and led 19-2 heading into the final period. Immaculata netted its third and final score of the game with 5:53 left. Hamilton capped the contest's offense with a goal at the 3:15 mark, slashing through the box and beating IU senior goalkeeper Andrew Sim with a bounce shot.

Sophomore midfielder Dante Tuscai led the Mighty Macs with three points on three assists. Junior midfielder Kevin Glenn collected a team-best four groundballs. The game marked the first postseason appearance in program history for Immaculata as the team is in just its third year of varsity competition.

The win improves the Cavaliers' record to 8-1 at home this season and 34-5 at Edith Robb Dixon Field since the 2007 season.

Cabrini (13-3) will play for the right to appear in the NCAA Tournament for the ninth straight season on Saturday, May 8 in the CSAC final. The Cavaliers await the winner of today's second semifinal round game between No. 2 seed Marywood University and No. 3 seed Gwynedd-Mercy College (5 p.m.). Game time is to be announced.
