READING, Pa. – The Cabrini field hockey team returned to the win column on Thursday night, besting Commonwealth Conference opponent Albright College, 2-1. Junior midfielder Maura Gordon scored each of the Cavaliers' two goals in the victory.
Following a scoreless first half, Gordon broke the offensive silence with the game's initial goal, an unassisted tally in the 51st minute.
Less than six minutes following, Gordon deposited her third score of the season and the 27th of her career at the 56:06 mark to provide the Blue & White with a two-goal advantage.
Albright answered quickly and trimmed its deficit in half just 35 seconds later, pulling to within 2-1 after a goal from senior forward Gia Boscola. Senior forward Caitlin Feldman was credited the assist on the score.
However, the Lions would pull no closer. Cabrini senior goalkeeper Caitlin Donahue tallied five saves her 33rd career victory.
Albright freshman goalkeeper Marguerite DeLucas posted seven saves in the loss.
The Cavaliers out-shot the Lions for the game, 17-14. The Blue & White earned 10 penalty corners against six from the hosts.
