IMMACULATA, Pa. – The Cabrini field hockey team opened its Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) title defense with a 1-0 loss at Immaculata University on Tuesday afternoon. The Cavaliers out-shot the Mighty Macs for the contest, 17-6.
Senior forward Kathleen Garrity supplied Immaculata a lead it would never relinquish less than three minutes following the opening whistle. Garrity deposited the unassisted game-winning goal off a rebound in front of the Cabrini cage at the 2:52 mark.
Junior forward Stephanie Campanaro led the Blue & White with five shots. Junior midfielder Maura Gordon, selected to the CSAC Honor Roll on Monday, recorded four shot attempts.
Senior goalkeeper Caitlin Donahue notched two saves for the Cavaliers in the loss.
Junior goalkeeper Britt Worthington totaled fours in the victory for the Mighty Macs. The Immaculata defense was aided by two defensive saves.
The loss ends a four-game win streak for the Blue & White against CSAC opponents dating back to the 2009 season.
Cabrini (3-4, 0-1) continues its CSAC regular season schedule on Saturday, Sept. 25 at home against Marywood University. Game time with the Pacers is set for 11 a.m.
