RADNOR, Pa. – The Cabrini volleyball team rolled to a 3-0 win against Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) opponent Cedar Crest College on Tuesday night at Nerney Field House. The victory is the Cavaliers' 16th straight against a conference opponent dating back to the 2009 season.
Freshman setter Alaina Clark led the Cabrini offense to a .308 team attack percentage with a match-high 23 assists. Clark, named the CSAC Player of the Week on Monday, also contributed four digs.
Freshman middle hitter Michele Fitz powered the Cavaliers attack with a team-best eight kills on just 10 attempts. Sophomore outside hitter Megan Ryan recorded seven kills, while freshman outside hitter Michelle McCrossin added six.
McCrossin also aided the Blue & White defense, totaling a club-high 10 digs. Freshman defensive specialist Kristy Riley notched seven digs.
The Cavaliers quickly pushed the Falcons' backs against the wall, racing to a 2-0 advantage for the match with a 25-10 win in the first game and a 25-3 victory in the second game. Junior libero Courtney Abel sparked Cabrini in the second set, serving 20 consecutive points.
Cabrini clinched the match with a 25-21 win in the third frame.
Senior setter Lauren Seale guided the Cedar Crest attack with a team-best 11 assists. Senior libero Danielle Niles tallied 12 digs.
The win also improves the Cavaliers' home record to 26-5 under fourth-year head coach Eric Schaefer.
Cabrini (11-4, 3-0) resumes its CSAC regular season slate on the road against Immaculata University on Thursday, Sept. 30. Match time with the Mighty Macs is set for 7 p.m.
