RADNOR, Pa. –
Behind four second half goals, the Cabrini field hockey team surged past Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) rival Neumann University, 5-1, on Wednesday night at Edith Robb Dixon Field. Junior forward Lauren Alessi scored two goals, including the 30th of her career, and added one assist for the Cavaliers in the win.

Cabrini held a 2-1 advantage with 18 minutes remaining. However, the Cavaliers scored three goals in the ensuing 13 minutes, seizing a 5-1 cushion with nearly seven minutes remaining.

Alessi keyed the spurt with her second goal of the game and the 30th of her Cabrini tenure, slamming home a feed to the left post from junior midfielder Shannon Mulhern.

Junior midfielder Maura Gordon stretched the Cabrini lead to three goals, 4-1, also depositing her fifth goal of the season. Sophomore forward Lindsey Atzert earned an assist on the tally, setting up the score with a pass in front.

Atzert capped the contest's scoring with her first goal of the year, converting a feed from Alessi on the Neumann doorstep.

The Cavaliers out-shot the Knights for the game, 24-6. Cabrini also earned 12 penalty corners against eight from Neumann.

Alessi initiated the game's offense, finding the back of the cage at the 3:03 mark. Senior back Allie Rodolico's pass into the arc was tipped in the air before Alessi batted it past Neumann freshman goalkeeper Lindsey Kasecamp.

Junior forward Stephanie Campanaro supplied the Blue & White with a two-goal lead, 2-0, tallying her third penalty stroke goal in the last three outings at the 41:03 mark. Campanaro was later denied a second penalty stroke goal mid-way through the second half.

Cabrini senior goalkeeper Caitlin Donahue notched four saves for her fifth win of the season and the 36th of her career. Donahue's sprawling save as the final horn sounded preserved the four-goal victory.

Kasecamp tallied nine saves for the Knights before making way to sophomore cageminder Maggy Carpenter with 14 minutes remaining. Carpenter tallied two saves in relief.

Tonight's contest featured a re-match of last two CSAC title matches. In 2009, the Cavaliers punched their ticket to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history with a dramatic 2-1 win against the Knights at the CSAC Fall Championship Festival hosted by Immaculata University. Mulhern's goal with 23 seconds remaining in the second propelled the Blue & White to the national postseason.

Cabrini (5-4, 2-1) will enjoy a 10-day lay-off before continuing its CSAC regular season schedule at home against Keystone College on Saturday, Oct. 9. Game time against the Giants is set for 12 p.m.
