Gordon Surpasses 100 Career Points in Cavaliers Win

DOYLESTOWN, Pa. –
The Cabrini College field hockey team won its third consecutive game today, a 7-3 win at Delaware Valley College.  The Cavaliers have now won six of their last seven games to improve to 7-4 on the season.

Cabrini was led by senior Maura Gordon, who recorded two goals and two assists.  Gordon's second goal not only closed Cabrini's scoring for the match, but also put Gordon over the 100 career point plateau, joining fellow Cavaliers' senior Lauren Alessi

The Cabrini seniors are now the only active teammates in Division III to have at least 100 points and each rank among the nation's top 10 active players in goals.

The Cavaliers took control of the game in the early stages. Just 10 minutes into the games, sophomore Lindsey Atzert scored the first of her two goals on the day, off an assist from Gordon.  Five minutes later, freshman Karlie Gruccio got into the act with an unassisted tally. 

In the 18th minute, Alessi scored the first of her two goals.  Gordon added her first goal in the 28th minute off a pass from freshman Rachel Antuzzi. After a Delaware Valley goal, the Cavaliers took a 4-1 advantage in to the halftime break.

Cabrini continued its offensive display in the second half.  Atzert and Gordon combined again in the 44th minute for Atzert's fifth goal of the year.  Six minutes later, Alessi netted her second goal.

At the 53:18 make, Gordon recorded her team-leading eighth goal of the year. Gruccio recorded the assist on the milestone goal.
Cabrini outshot Delaware Valley 22-10 on the game.

Atzert finished with two goals and an assist and Alessi scored two goals.  Gruccio added a goal and an assist in the win.

The Cavaliers will return to Edith Robb Dixon Field on Thursday, October 13 to host Cedar Crest College in CSAC action.  The game is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m.
