RADNOR, Pa. –
The Cabrini College field hockey team suffered a disappointing 5-1 loss at the hands of the Alvernia University Crusaders at Edith Robb Dixon Field to close the regular season.  The Cavaliers' record now stands at 11-6.

The Crusaders put the pressure on the Cavaliers early in the game.  Just 10 minutes after the opening whistle, Alvernia scored their first goal.  Five minutes later, they extended their lead.  By the halftime break, the Cavaliers trailed 3-0 and had mustered just one shot on goal.

Trailing 4-1 in the 46th minute, freshman Karlie Gruccio got the Cavaliers on the scoreboard.  The rookie connected on a pass from senior Stephanie Campanaro for her seventh goal of the season.

Tonight's match marked the final regular season home game for Cabrini's six seniors.  The group of Lauren Alessi, Campanaro, Maura Gordon, Liz Krupka, Amanda Smith and Janine Zizzamia recorded an astounding 275 points.  The ladies led the Cavaliers to 50 wins including the 2009 and 2010 Colonial States Athletics Conference titles.

The Blue and White will wait for the CSAC schedule to conclude to learn the conference's postseason tournament schedule.
