CHESTER, Pa. – The Cabrini College field hockey team improved to 6-4 on the season with today's 3-1 victory at Widener University.
The Cavaliers found themselves behind early as Widener opened the scoring in the game's 9th minute. Cabrini responded less than two minutes later as junior
Lindsey Atzert notched her third goal of the year. The teams were tied at one going into the halftime break.
The score remained tied until the 55th minute when senior
Lauren Alessi scored her fifth goal of the season. Fellow senior
Maura Gordon recorded her fourth assist of the year on Alessi's goal.
Cabrini put the game away in the 59th minute when sophomore
Erin McLaughlin scored her first collegiate goal.
Sophomore goaltender
Genevieve Paulin recorded seven saves in the win. Senior
Stephanie Campanaro led Cabrini with eight shots, five on goal.
The Cavaliers will to Doylestown, Pa. on Monday to face Delaware Valley College. The action is scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m.
