No. 18 Men's Lacrosse Cruises to Fourth Straight, Downs Whittier College, 13-1

The No. 18 Cabrini men's lacrosse team captured its fourth straight win on Saturday versus Whittier College.

RADNOR, Pa. –
The No. 18 Cabrini men's lacrosse team extended its win streak to four games following a convincing 13-1 victory versus Whittier College on Saturday afternoon at Edith Robb Dixon Field. Senior attackman Paul Skulski led the Cavaliers' offense with five points in the victory.

Skulski paired two goals with three assists against the Poets. He is now only two goals shy of becoming just the fifth player in program history to reach 100 career goals.

Junior midfielder Joe Arrell tallied three points, netting three goals. Sophomore attackman Bobby Thorp added two points with two goals.

Junior attackman Brian Hill recorded three points, depositing one goal and handing out assists. Sophomore attackman Jeff Crosby totaled two points with one score and one assist.

Hill and sophomore midfielder Joe Hughes led Cabrini in the hustle department, each scooping a team-high four groundballs. Crosby and freshman longstick midfielder Bill McCabe each collected three groundballs.

Sophomore goalkeeper Erick Zarzecki notched 11 saves for his 21st career win.

Although the Cavaliers reeled off their fourth straight win, the Blue & White needed to overcome a small deficit early on for the second consecutive contest. Whittier netted its only goal of the outing, from the stick of Kevin Looney, at the 1:00 mark of the first quarter.

Cabrini answered back with a 13-0 run over the next 46 minutes. Crosby tied the game with his team-best 18th goal of the season with just two ticks left in the opening period.

The Cavaliers led 4-1 at halftime behind three unanswered goals in the second quarter. Cabrini pushed its lead to 9-1 through three periods. Skulski canned his first goal of the game with one second left in the third stanza.

The Blue & White out-shot the Poets for the game, 58-26, and owned a 33-20 advantage in groundballs.

Robert Bazlen recorded 25 saves for Whittier in the loss. Bazlen is the fourth goalkeeper this season to stop at least 20 shots against the Cavaliers.

Today's contest marked the first all-time between the Cavaliers and Whittier.

Cabrini (6-3) resumes its Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) schedule on Wednesday, April 6 at home versus Gwynedd-Mercy College. Game time against the Griffins is set for 3:30 p.m.
