RADNOR, Pa. –
The Cabrini College field hockey team will participate in the nation-wide “Play 4 the Cure” initiative on Tuesday, October 4 when they welcome the Wilkes University Colonels to Edith Robb Dixon Field for a 3:30 p.m. match.  This will be Cabrini's second year participating in the program.

“Being a female coach and having student-athletes who have been personally touched by breast cancer, I think this is an excellent cause to support,” said Cabrini head field hockey coach Jackie Neary.  “Play 4 the Cure gives us the opportunity to compete in the game we love while helping bring awareness to and raise money for the fight against breast cancer.”

Play 4 the Cure was created by Mystx Field Hockey Club founder, director and coach Tina Reinrect who began the movement with an indoor field hockey tournament in Feasterville, Pa.  With October as the height of the field hockey season and Breast Cancer Awareness month, Reinrect began a movement to declare within the field hockey community that October is Play 4 the Cure month.    Since that first tournament, hundreds of middle school, high school, college and club teams have joined the cause.

All proceeds from Play 4 the Cure events around the country are donated to Susan G. Komen and the American Cancer Society.

The Cavaliers will show their support for the program by wearing pink “Play 4 the Cure” bracelets and pink warm-up shirts during the entire month of May.  In addition to accepting general donations, bracelets will be available for purchase.
